Thursday 6/21/01 7:05 PM (EDT), Vicksburg, LA
Had problems with weather again today. Didn't get off the ground in OK
until after 11:30 EDT. The weather was supposed to be good where we were
going but went bad fast. Had to file IFR flight plan to get into AR. The
airplane's storm scope was showing lightning strikes all over. When we
got into LA it looked like we might be able to get out but then we saw
thunder storms in our direction of flight so we decided to spend the
night in LA. We ended up in Vicksburg LA instead of Monroe because of
thunder storms. The enclosed pictures tell the story. We are used to the
weather on the East coast where thunder storms come across the country
and you know they are coming. Out here they crop up out of nowhere. The
mornings here are usually good so we hope to be out to GA by noon and
then on to WV for the night. Looks like we will be home Saturday.
