Day 5: Arizona, Utah, Colorado, New Mexico, Texas and Oklahoma

Wed 6/20/01 9:45 PM (PDT), Santa Fe, NM

Pretty much an uneventful day. Got out of NV early before temperatures reached predicted 107. Had good weather for our trip out of the mountains. Finished up our bottle of oxygen by the time we got out. Had some gremlins with the GPS and auto pilot. Lost GPS signal trying to get into NM and again in UT. Don't know if that is normal for this part of country or if there is a problem with the GPS. Auto pilot also acted up for awhile but seemed to be alright at the end of the day. Yesterdays long trip took its toll. We were making some simple mistakes entering data into the radios and GPS systems. Look forward to a good nights rest tonight. We are getting the emails everyone is sending but just don't have the time to respond. Thanks to everyone. I know Ralph & I have been getting good press but let's not forget the real reason we are doing this. If you haven't bought a poster please do. Your 48 bucks does make a difference. And as you know 100% of the money goes to Darlene. Oh, a first for us, the hotel picked us up at the airport in a pickup truck.
